Double-layer DVI is a digital video interface connector with 24 pins arranged in a rectangular grid on its right side. Two DVI interface connectors, also known as dual links, can be used as connectors in electronic devices such as personal computers or HDTVs (HDTVs). This article mainly introduces the dual DVI interface connector!

The DVI connector was introduced in 1999, also known as the digital video interface, that is, the DVI interface. This was designed by the Digital Display Working Group (DDWG). It is an open industry alliance composed of seven consumer electronics companies: Intel, Fujitsu, International Business Machines Corporation (IBM/Hewlett-Packard (HP)/NC Corporation/Silicon Image/Compaq Computer Corporation and Hewlett-Packard merged two years later.
The Video Graphics Array VGA connector is being replaced by the DVI connector. Until 2011, the VGA connector was still commonly used to connect a monitor to a desktop PC, or as an external monitor connector for a laptop. As opposed to the analog video signal transmitted by VGA, the aptly named DVI is used for digital video display.
The two-pronged DVI pin is responsible for passing the digital video signal. In the single-link DVI connector, dual DVI has six more pins than single DVI, where the number of pins is 18, while in the dual-link DVI connector, the extra pins increase the bandwidth, that is, the transmission of video signals desired frequency range.
Therefore, dual-link DVI supports higher graphics display resolutions than single-link DVI. Image resolution indicates the number of pixels that can be placed on a display. A single DVI can manage resolutions up to 1,920x1,200 pixels. Dual-layer DVI is higher than single-layer DVI, with a maximum display quality of 2,560x1,600 pixels.
Another consequence of the increased bandwidth of dual-channel DVI is that it transmits signals over greater distances than single-channel DVI. The standard maximum length for a DVI cable is about 16 feet (5 meters). The double-layer DVI interface connector can not only transmit digital video signals, but also install analog mono, which is the same as the VGA connector. The two types of dual-link connectors are: DVI integrated (DVI-I) and DVI-D (DVI-D). DVI-I contains digital and analog video pins and can be applied to any type of computer display. DVI-D is for digital visual display only.
