The following Ebeestock technicians will introduce you to the relevant knowledge of coaxial and RCA connectors, making it easier for you to distinguish.
Do coaxial and RCA mean the same thing? What is the difference?
Coaxial and RCA are not the same things.
1. The meaning of the expression is different
- Coaxial: Coaxial line is a guiding system composed of two coaxial cylindrical conductors, and a broadband microwave transmission line filled with air or high-frequency medium between the inner and outer conductors.
- RCA: RCA terminal, commonly known as plum blossom head and lotus head, is a widely used terminal, which can be used in applications including analog video/audio, digital audio and color difference component transmission.
2. The characteristics are different
- Coaxial: The attenuation characteristics of coaxial cables are usually expressed by attenuation constants. The attenuation constant is proportional to the mean square root of the operating frequency of the signal, that is, the higher the frequency, the greater the attenuation constant, and the lower the frequency, the smaller the attenuation constant.
- RCA: RCA plugs are often distinguished by color, yellow is used for composite video, white is used for left channel in analog stereo audio, and red is used for the right channel.
Disadvantages of RCA Terminals
One disadvantage of RCA is that whenever a separate signal is required, a separate cable is required. There are many cables, which also makes wiring difficult. In addition, after the cables are connected, the messy cables also affect the appearance.
In order to get rid of annoying cables, countless terminals have been introduced, hoping to transmit audio and video at the same time, but it is difficult to become an international standard.
